This is where we review South African betting sites. We only cover operators licensed by a provincial gambling board, which rules out the offshore brands that dominate most comparison pages. And because we publish and grade every one of our own predictions in public, we can do something most review sites cannot: test each bookmaker against the bets we actually make, rather than against a generic checklist. Our record stands at 131 wins from 225 graded picks (58%), losses included.
How we review a bookmaker
Most betting site reviews are written by people who have never placed a bet with the operator and are ranking on commission rate. Ours run on five checks, in this order:
- Licence, verified at source. We name the licensed entity, the provincial regulator and the licence number. If affiliate sites disagree on the number, we say so rather than pick one.
- Bonus terms read in full. The headline figure is the least interesting part. The wagering multiplier, the minimum odds and the expiry window decide whether an offer is worth anything.
- Tested against our own picks. We hold a public, graded record of every prediction we publish, currently 131 wins from 225 graded picks (58%). We check whether a bookmaker’s terms are compatible with the kind of bets that record is built on. Several are not, and we show the arithmetic.
- Payments and withdrawal reality. Deposit methods South Africans actually use, minimum withdrawal, and how long money takes to land once FICA is complete.
- What we could not confirm. Every review carries this section. It is the fastest way to tell an honest review from a rewritten press release.
Licensed South African bookmakers we cover
Welcome offers change constantly. The figures below were the advertised offers when we last checked, and you should always confirm the current terms on the operator’s own site before depositing. For every licensed welcome offer side by side, including the ones we have only seen reported, see our betting bonuses comparison.

|---|---|---|---|
| Hollywoodbets | KwaZulu-Natal gambling board, with extensions across other provinces | R25 free bet plus 50 free spins, no deposit required. Free bet used once at minimum odds of 1.5, within a short window (24 hours in most sources) | Full review UPDATED OCT |
| 10Bet | Mpumalanga Economic Regulator | 100% first deposit match up to R5,000 from R50. 6x (deposit + bonus) wagering at minimum odds of 2.00, within 30 days | Full review NEW OCT |
| Betway | Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd, Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board | 100% first deposit match up to R1,000 as a free bet, 3x wagering at odds of 3.0 or higher. Some reviews since mid-2026 report a smaller R10 free bet pack instead, which we are rechecking | Full review |
| Supabets | Supabets Gaming Group, Mpumalanga Economic Regulator | Reported, not yet verified by us. See the comparison | PENDING |
| YesPlay | Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board | Reported, not yet verified by us. See the comparison | PENDING |

Pending means exactly that. We would rather label a figure as reported than present it as checked, and we will move each bookmaker into a full review as we complete it.
Our pick for a first account: no deposit needed, and a 1.5 minimum odds rule that still allows most of the picks we publish. 18+ only. New customers only, T&Cs apply. Commercial link.
Why licensing is the first check, not the last
South African online sports betting is legal through bookmakers licensed by provincial gambling boards, and a licensed operator displays its licensed entity and licence number in its site footer. Several of the biggest international brands promoted to South African bettors hold no South African licence at all. If a dispute arises with one of those, South African law offers you no route to resolve it.
That is also why our reviews start with the entity name rather than the bonus. Betway South Africa is operated by Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd, not by the international Betway entity, and that distinction is what determines who regulates your account.
How our prediction record feeds these reviews
We publish predictions with a confidence score attached and grade every one against the official result. The current record is 131 wins from 225 graded picks (58%), and the losses stay on the page. By confidence band, it reads:
- Strong picks, 70% and above: 32W-7L (82%)
- Good picks, 55% to 69%: 55W-33L (63%)
- Close calls, under 55%: 44W-54L (45%)
Those figures update themselves as results are graded, and they give our reviews a test no other South African review site runs. When a bookmaker attaches a minimum odds condition to its welcome bonus, we check that condition against the bands above and tell you which of our picks would actually have qualified. Hollywoodbets’ 1.5 minimum leaves most of our good and close picks available. Betway’s 3.0 minimum on singles excluded every one of the first 33 picks we graded.
