Bafana Bafana Fixtures: Next Matches, Kick-off Times and Our Predictions

Bafana Bafana have won all three matches since Pitso Mosimane returned as coach. They beat Guinea 2-1 at Orlando Stadium on 26 September and Eritrea 5-0 in Cairo on 30 September, which puts them top of AFCON 2027 qualifying Group D with six points from six. A largely second-string side then beat Egypt 1-0 in a friendly in Cairo on 4 October.

The next Bafana Bafana fixture is South Africa v Kenya on Friday 13 November 2026, kick-off 18:00 SAST, followed by the return game in Kenya on Tuesday 17 November. Both of our published Bafana picks so far have won. Everything on this page was checked on 6 October 2026.

Results confirmed against CAF, SAFA, ESPN, SuperSport and KickOff reports on 6 October 2026. The Eritrea qualifier was an Eritrea home game played at a neutral ground in Egypt, because Eritrea do not have an international-standard stadium. The November dates are as announced for qualifying matchday 3 and 4; venues and the second kick-off time have not been confirmed yet.

How the three wins happened

South Africa 2-1 Guinea, 26 September

Mosimane’s first match back in charge. Ime Okon and Kabini scored for South Africa, and our 58 percent pick landed. The full result and review covers it in detail.

Eritrea 0-5 South Africa, 30 September

Relebohile Mofokeng scored his first two international goals, on 19 minutes and in first-half added time, before Yaya Sithole (52′), Iqraam Rayners (63′) and substitute Luther Singh (90+4′) completed the rout. Oswin Appollis set up three of the goals. It was one short of South Africa’s record AFCON qualifying win, a 6-0 against the Seychelles. Eritrea started well and hit the crossbar early, and Ronwen Williams had to make a strong second-half save to keep the clean sheet. Our 74 percent strong-band pick won.

Egypt 0-1 South Africa, 4 October

Mosimane made eight changes from the Eritrea game, and Puso Dithejane scored the only goal early in the second half. Egypt hit the woodwork in stoppage time. It extends Mosimane’s run to three wins from three, but we carried no pick on the match and it is not part of our record, for the reasons below.

AFCON 2027 qualifying: Group D after two rounds

Pos Team P W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 South Africa 2 2 0 0 7 1 +6 6
2 Guinea 2 1 0 1 2 2 0 3
3 Kenya (co-host, already qualified) 2 0 1 1 1 2 -1 1
4 Eritrea 2 0 1 1 1 6 -5 1

Built from the four results: Kenya 1-1 Eritrea and South Africa 2-1 Guinea on matchday 1, and Eritrea 0-5 South Africa and Guinea 1-0 Kenya (Serhou Guirassy, 32′) on matchday 2. Goals scored and conceded both total 11, which is the check that the table adds up.

South Africa are in Group D with Guinea, Kenya and Eritrea, as confirmed in CAF’s official qualifier draw. The qualification maths is unusual. Kenya are already qualified as co-hosts, so only the highest-placed of South Africa, Guinea and Eritrea reaches the finals, wherever Kenya finish.

That makes the real race South Africa against Guinea, and Bafana now lead it by three points with a goal difference six better. The swing match is Guinea at home on 26 March 2027. Win or draw there and South Africa would be in a very strong position; lose it and the race is open again. The two November games against Kenya matter for that lead even though Kenya themselves have nothing to qualify for.

Why we priced the matches the way we did

Fifty-eight percent on a home qualifier against Guinea was a real edge, but a modest one, in our good band rather than our strong band. Two things held it there: it was a new manager’s first match, the least predictable ninety minutes in international football, and Guinea are not an opponent a South African side brushes aside. A 2-1 win suggests that caution was about right.

Eritrea at 74 percent was a different question: a side that reached the World Cup knockout stage three months earlier, against an opponent ranked 134 places lower whose home game was played in another country. That gap was wide enough to carry a strong-band figure, and the 5-0 result did not test it.

The Egypt friendly got no pick at all. Friendlies are played with rotating squads, unlimited substitutions and nothing riding on the result, and Mosimane’s eight changes showed exactly why. We do not have a model that prices that, and we would rather publish nothing than a number we made up.

Our graded record, including the Bafana column

Our published record across every competition is 109 wins and 77 losses from 186 graded picks, 59 percent, rechecked on the live site on 6 October 2026. Every pick is in the public log on our home page with its result attached, and the losing ones stay there.

Column Record Accuracy
All competitions, all time 109W-77L, 186 picks 59%
Strong picks, 70% and up 25W-5L 83%
Betway Premiership 6W-7L, 13 picks 46%
Bafana Bafana picks 2W-0L (Guinea 58%, Eritrea 74%) Too early to rate

Two from two is a good start and nothing more. The last time we opened a column in a competition we had never graded, the South African league in August 2026, we went 6 and 7 in it while running at 59 percent everywhere else. Two picks is a sample, not a rate, so the Bafana column stays cautious until it has a couple of dozen results behind it. The results will be posted either way.

Reading our confidence figures. Strong means 70 percent and up. Good means 55 to 69. A close call is under 55 percent and is us telling you the match is near a coin toss. A draw counts as a loss for us when our pick named a winner, which matters in qualifying football more than anywhere else. We never publish a pick for a match kicking off within the hour, and we never take down a pick that lost.
