Sportingbet is a South African online bookmaker with sports and live betting, casino-style games, slots, Aviator and BetGames. It is run by GreatOdds (Pty) Ltd of Cape Town, part of the international Entain group, and holds Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board bookmaker and manufacturer licences, both confirmed on the board’s register. The main strengths are a well regulated local operator, express withdrawals that can land within hours, and proper deposit limits. The main weakness is the welcome offer: the homepage advertises up to R3,000 across three deposits, but we could not find a terms page for it, and the help centre describes a different package. Sportingbet is licensed in South Africa and accepts South African players aged 18 and over.

Licence and safety
Sportingbet’s general terms name GreatOdds (Pty) Ltd, trading as sportingbet.co.za, at Granger Bay Court, Beach Road, Cape Town, licensed by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board with a bookmaker’s and a manufacturer’s licence. We found GreatOdds (Pty) Ltd listed under both categories on the board’s licence holders page. The board does not publish licence numbers, and Sportingbet does not show one or its company registration number. The terms define the wider group as Entain plc and its subsidiaries, the group behind brands such as Ladbrokes and Coral. We found no fines or sanctions against Sportingbet South Africa for 2024 to 2026.
Sports and markets
The site covers football, tennis, basketball, cricket, rugby union, horse racing and golf, with live betting and a Build A Bet+ tool for combining selections in one match. Casino, slots, live casino, Aviator and BetGames sit in the same account. We did not find Lucky Numbers or virtual sports on the pages we read. Winnings are capped at R10,000,000 per day.
Welcome offer and the real terms
The homepage and sports page advertise a \”Triple Welcome Bonus\” worth up to R3,000 in bonus funds across your first three deposits. No terms are linked to it, the promotions page lists no welcome offer, and the welcome offer page was blocked when we tried it. The help centre describes a different \”Signature Welcome Pack\” of up to R15,000, with 10x wagering at minimum odds of 1.90, and gives two different qualifying deposits on the same page, so it reads as out of date.
The terms that do apply to every Sportingbet promotion are its standard promotional terms: bonuses must be wagered on odds of 1.70 or above, horse racing bets at starting price do not count, and new customer offers are limited to one per person or household. Because the wagering multiple and expiry for the advertised R3,000 offer are not published, we cannot work out its real value. Ask support for the full terms in writing, and do not opt in until you have them.
Payments and withdrawals
The help centre lists Google Pay, OTT Voucher, Flash 1Voucher, Ozow, Visa, Mastercard, EFT and Apple Pay for deposits. Ozow, 1Voucher, OTT and Google Pay deposits are instant and free, and Google Pay deposits run from R50 up to R1,000,000. Those four methods are deposit only.
For withdrawals, Express Withdrawals pay instantly if checks pass and usually within 6 to 8 hours otherwise, at no fee, into a verified South African bank account in your own name; a regular bank transfer takes 1 to 2 business days. FNB E-Wallet withdrawals are capped at R3,000 and processed at 7am, 12pm, 5pm and 10pm. Visa withdrawals go back to the card. Overall, you can withdraw up to R1,000,000 every 30 business days. An account becomes inactive after 180 days, an unspecified handling fee applies to inactive accounts, and balances are forfeited after 12 months.
Mobile
We found no Sportingbet app for South Africa: the site carries no app links and its app page did not load. The Sportingbet app on the Apple App Store is published by Entain for the UK and Ireland and does not mention South Africa, so do not use it here. The site works in a mobile browser.
Support
Sportingbet refers to a 24/7 customer service team, but no phone number, email address or live chat link appears on any page we could read; the contact page shows only help topics. This is the weakest part of the site.
Responsible gambling tools
The responsible gaming page offers daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits, a time-out or cool-off option, and self-exclusion through the Western Cape board’s form, emailed to the board. It lists the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation’s toll-free line 0800 006 008 and the WhatsApp HELP line 076 675 0710.

South Africa
Sportingbet holds Western Cape licences, so it is a legal option for adults in South Africa. One wider issue applies to every local bookmaker with casino-style games: in October 2025 the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that Gauteng-licensed bookmakers may not offer fixed-odds bets on roulette and other casino games without a casino licence, and the National Gambling Board said the ruling applies to all bookmakers, a reading some lawyers dispute. Sports betting is not affected. Compare other options on our list of licensed South African betting sites.
How we reviewed Sportingbet
On 17 October 2026 we read the Sportingbet homepage and footer, its general terms, standard promotional terms, the help centre pages on payments, each payment method and bonuses, the responsible gaming, contact and registration pages, and checked the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board’s licence holders page. The welcome offer, app and horse racing pages did not load. We did not open an account, deposit or bet. Sources: Sportingbet terms, Sportingbet payments help and the WCGRB licence holders list.
