Supabets is a South African bookmaker with a large online sportsbook, horse racing, Lucky Numbers style draws, virtual sports and retail branches in Gauteng. The website is run by Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd, which states it is regulated by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator under licence 9-2-1-00055; we could not confirm that on the regulator’s site, which blocked our request. The main strength is depth: more than 50,000 pre-match and 15,000 live events, with e-wallet withdrawals in 30 to 60 minutes. The main weaknesses are low daily cash-out caps, a responsible gambling offer limited to time-outs by email, and an October 2025 Supreme Court of Appeal ruling that went against Supabets on casino-style bets. Supabets operates under a South African provincial licence and accepts South African players aged 18 and over.

Licence and safety
The Supabets footer and general terms name Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd, trading as Supabets, registration 2009/016148/07, and state it is regulated by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator under licence 9-2-1-00055. The terms still use the regulator’s old name, the Mpumalanga Gambling Board. The footer links to a copy of the licence, but that link redirects to a help page, and the regulator’s own site blocked our request, so we could not confirm the licence independently. Court papers show a related company, Portapa (Pty) Ltd, holds a Gauteng bookmaker licence.
The biggest regulatory event is a court case. On 21 October 2025 the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed Supabets’s appeal in Portapa (Pty) Ltd t/a Supabets v Casino Association of South Africa, [2025] ZASCA 158, holding that Gauteng-licensed bookmakers may not offer fixed-odds bets on roulette or other casino games without a casino licence. The National Gambling Board then said the ruling applies to all South African bookmakers, a reading some law firms dispute. Supabets still lists Play Vegas casino-style games and live roulette in its terms, so check what is offered in your province. We found no fines against Supabets for 2024 to 2026.
Sports and markets
Supabets says it offers more than 50,000 pre-match and 15,000 live events, with cash out on many markets. Beyond football, rugby and cricket, it covers horse racing and racing specials, eSports, eSoccer and short formats such as Soccer 6, Soccer 4 and Rugby 5. Its Supanumbers draws, BetGames Lucky 5, 6 and 7 games and a long list of virtual sports, from football and horses to speedway and tennis, sit alongside. The minimum stake is R1. Single soccer bets pay out at most R50,000, rising to R30 million for multiples of 50 or more legs; the terms give two different overall payout caps in different clauses.
Welcome offer and the real terms
Supabets advertises a R50 free bet, 100 free spins on selected Habanero games and up to R5,000 in deposit bonuses on your first three deposits. Its promotions page showed no offers when we checked, and the bonus terms are dated between 2019 and 2023, so confirm the current offer before you sign up. The published terms:
| Offer | Bonus | Rollover | Max withdrawable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign up | R50 free bet | 5 times at 2/1 (3.00) or better | Not stated |
| 1st deposit | 100% up to R2,000 | 10 times at 14/10 (2.40) or better | R3,000 |
| 2nd deposit | 50% up to R1,000 | 10 times at 14/10 (2.40) or better | R2,000 |
| 3rd deposit | 100% up to R2,000 | 10 times at 14/10 (2.40) or better | R3,000 |
- Single bets only; split bets and betting on more than one outcome void the bonus
- Deposit bonuses must be cleared within 15 days; voucher deposits do not qualify
- The R50 free bet is for FICA-verified new accounts, credited the next morning, stake not returned, and needs a matching deposit before any withdrawal
- Free spins are by invitation only, capped at R40,000 and expire after 6 days
Here is what that means in practice. Take a R1,000 first deposit bonus and you must place at least R10,000 of single bets at odds of 2.40 or longer within 15 days, about R670 a day, and you can withdraw at most R3,000. Odds of 2.40 mean you are backing outcomes the market rates at around 40 percent or less, so most of those bets will lose. The R50 free bet needs R250 of singles at 3.00 or longer. For a careful bettor, the free bet is worth taking; the deposit match is only worth it if you were going to bet that volume at those odds anyway.
Payments and withdrawals
Deposits are by vouchers: Supabets, OTT, 1Voucher, Blu and Kazang, bought at shops and retailers. No minimum deposit is published. Withdrawals go by cardless OTP to an FNB eWallet or Standard Bank Instant Money, by 1ForYou voucher or by EFT. Supabets states e-wallet payouts take 30 to 60 minutes, cardless OTP within 24 hours and EFT 1 to 3 working days. The caps are low: R2,500 a day with FNB, R5,000 a day with Standard Bank and R25,000 a month. Fees and a minimum withdrawal are not published. The site also shows logos for several Indian payment methods, such as UPI and Paytm, that do not appear to apply in South Africa.
Mobile
The Android app is a direct APK download from the Supabets site, because Google Play does not carry real money betting apps for South Africa, and an iOS app is listed on the App Store. Read our betting apps guide before installing any APK.
Support
Supabets offers live chat, a call back service, email, WhatsApp on 060 017 6911 and phone on +27 11 215 7000, with branch queries on 086 176 2237. It states response times of five minutes for email and immediate for phone. Opening hours are not published, and the support email address is hidden on every page.
Responsible gambling tools
The responsible gaming page offers a time-out for a period you choose, requested by email, and a self-exclusion form. It does not list deposit limits, loss limits or reality checks. It gives the National Responsible Gambling Programme helpline, the WhatsApp HELP line 076 675 0710 and Gamblers Anonymous contacts in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.

South Africa
Supabets states a Mpumalanga provincial licence and a related company holds a Gauteng licence, so it operates as a South African licensed bookmaker for adults. Because of the October 2025 appeal court ruling, its casino-style products carry legal uncertainty; its sports betting is not affected by that case. Compare other options on our list of licensed South African betting sites.
How we reviewed Supabets
On 17 October 2026 we read the Supabets homepage and footer, its general, betting, bonus and virtual terms, and its FAQ, FICA, how-to, responsible gaming, app download and store locator pages. We read the Supreme Court of Appeal judgment and reports by Sunday World, Bizcommunity and Polity. The licence copy linked from the footer and the Mpumalanga regulator’s site did not load. We did not open an account, deposit or bet. Sources: Supabets bonus terms, Supabets general terms and the Supreme Court of Appeal judgment summary.
