Every position, games played, win, draw, loss and points figure above was cross-checked against the ESPN South African Premiership standings feed and the SuperSport Betway Premiership table on 25 September 2026, and the two agree. The table also passes its own arithmetic check: the wins column and the losses column each total 34, the drawn column totals 46 which is 23 matches counted twice, and 34 plus 23 gives exactly the 57 league matches the played column accounts for. We deliberately do not publish goal difference or goals for and against on this page. Our two sources have never agreed on those columns, and a figure we cannot confirm twice does not go on the site.
The log flatters the leaders: points per game and a 30-game projection
Two clubs have played eight matches and the other fourteen have played seven, which is enough to move the order at the very top. This is the table we actually use when we set a confidence figure on a Betway Premiership pick.

Points per game is points divided by games played, taken from the verified log above. The projection multiplies that rate by the 30 league matches each club plays in a 16-team season. It is a statement of current rate, not a forecast of the final table, and a single bad month moves it a long way. Points earned from draws is the drawn column, worth one point each, as a share of the club total.
Two things change when you sort by rate instead of by points. Orlando Pirates move above Mamelodi Sundowns, because Sundowns top the log on the back of a fixture Pirates have not played yet. And Sekhukhune United move above Milford FC, for the same reason one place further down. Neither club has actually overtaken anyone. It is just that a log read straight off the points column rewards whoever has had the busier calendar, and in a season with cup and continental football pulling clubs out of league rounds, that is worth remembering before you back a leader.
The bottom three have not won a match
Richards Bay, Siwelele and Marumo Gallants have taken 8 points between them and every one of those points came from a draw. Three clubs, 21 matches, zero wins. At the other end, Pirates and Sundowns have taken 94.7 percent and 90.0 percent of their points from wins.
In the middle sits the part that costs us money. Golden Arrows and Chippa United are on 8 points each and five of those eight points came from draws. Across the whole league, 23 of the 57 matches played have finished level, a draw rate of 40.4 percent. A prediction that names a winner loses to a draw, which is the single clearest reason our Betway Premiership column is the worst of any competition we cover.

Fixtures, dates and venues for 13 and 17 October were confirmed against both the SuperSport Betway Premiership fixture list and the ESPN South African Premiership feed on 25 September 2026. The two 18 October fixtures come from the SuperSport listing. Kick-off times follow SuperSport and are South African time. Times this far out do move for broadcast, so treat them as scheduled rather than final. The Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates picks match the ones already published on their club pages and have not been re-cut for this page.
Four of those eight picks sit under 55 percent, which on a normal weekend would look like a lack of conviction. In this league it is the honest reading. Chippa United against Kruger United at 51 percent pairs a club that has drawn five of seven with a club that has lost five of seven, and the two most likely results are a narrow home win and a draw. Golden Arrows against Milford at 44 percent is us saying the away side is the single likeliest winner while a draw is likelier still than either team winning. When our figure drops below 50, the pick names the most probable winner and is not a statement that a winner is probable.

A 46 percent league column is a losing column and it stays on the page. It is also the reason the draw analysis above is not decoration. Our best competition is the Champions League at 80 percent, where roughly one match in five ends level. Our worst is this one, where two in five do. The picks are not four times worse in South Africa, the competition is simply much harder to call, and any site quoting you a single sitewide accuracy number without splitting it by league is hiding that from you. Reading our confidence figures. Strong means 70 percent and up, and that band is running at 19 wins and 3 losses. Good means 55 to 69. A close call is under 55 percent and is us telling you the match is near a coin toss. We never publish a pick for a match kicking off within the hour, and we never remove a pick that lost.
