Kaizer Chiefs Standings 2026-27: 4th on 13 Points, Unbeaten, and Where the Dropped Points Went

Kaizer Chiefs standingsLog verified 4 October 2026 on ESPN and SuperSportOur public record: 104W-74L, 58% over 178 graded picks

Kaizer Chiefs are 4th in the Betway Premiership standings on 13 points from 7 games: 3 wins, 4 draws and no defeats. They are 7 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, 6 behind Orlando Pirates and 3 behind AmaZulu, and 1 point clear of Milford in 5th. No league match has been played since 20 September. The league returns on Tuesday 13 October 2026, when Chiefs host Stellenbosch at FNB Stadium at 19:30 SAST, and our published pick for that game is Kaizer Chiefs to win at 52 percent.

The Betway Premiership standings today

Read on 4 October 2026 from the ESPN South African Premiership standings and checked row by row against the SuperSport log, which agrees on every position, game, win, draw, defeat and point. Points per game is our own calculation. We do not publish goal difference on this page because the two sources have disagreed on goal columns earlier this season.

Pos Club P W D L Pts Pts per game
1 Mamelodi Sundowns 8 6 2 0 20 2.50
2 Orlando Pirates 7 6 1 0 19 2.71
3 AmaZulu 7 5 1 1 16 2.29
4 Kaizer Chiefs 7 3 4 0 13 1.86
5 Milford 8 3 3 2 12 1.50
6 Sekhukhune United 7 3 2 2 11 1.57
7 Stellenbosch 7 2 3 2 9 1.29
8 Golden Arrows 7 1 5 1 8 1.14
9 Chippa United 7 1 5 1 8 1.14
10 Durban City 7 1 4 2 7 1.00
11 Polokwane City 7 1 4 2 7 1.00
12 TS Galaxy 7 1 3 3 6 0.86
13 Kruger United 7 1 1 5 4 0.57
14 Richards Bay 7 0 3 4 3 0.43
15 Siwelele 7 0 3 4 3 0.43
16 Marumo Gallants 7 0 2 5 2 0.29
16 clubs 114 (57 matches) 34 46 (23 drawn matches) 34

The arithmetic checks out, which is how we know the table is internally sound: wins and defeats both total 34 across the division, and every club’s points equal three times its wins plus its draws. Chiefs are one of only three unbeaten sides, with Sundowns and Pirates, and their 4 draws from 7 is the reason they are fourth rather than second.

How Chiefs got to 13 points

Every result below is on the ESPN Kaizer Chiefs schedule and was confirmed this week by a second source: the SuperSport results list, kaizerchiefs.com, TimesLIVE or the PSL’s own reports.

Date Result Venue Outcome Running points
Sat 1 Aug Kruger United 1-3 Kaizer Chiefs Mbombela Stadium W 3
Wed 12 Aug Kaizer Chiefs 2-0 Sekhukhune United FNB Stadium W 6
Sat 15 Aug Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 Mamelodi Sundowns FNB Stadium D 7
Wed 26 Aug Richards Bay 2-2 Kaizer Chiefs Princess Magogo Stadium D 8
Sun 6 Sep Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 Siwelele Dobsonville Stadium W 11
Sat 12 Sep Polokwane City 1-1 Kaizer Chiefs Old Peter Mokaba Stadium D 12
Sun 20 Sep Golden Arrows 0-0 Kaizer Chiefs Mbombela Stadium D 13
7 games 12 scored, 7 conceded 3W 4D 0L 13

The last five league results read draw, draw, win, draw, draw. Chiefs have not lost all season, but they have won only one of their last five, and that is the whole story of the gap to the top two.

The original number: where the dropped points came from

We split Chiefs’ seven games by where each opponent sits in the standings today, top half (1st to 8th) or bottom half (9th to 16th). This is our own calculation from the verified results above and today’s log, and it is not on any other page of this site.

Opponents Games Results Points won Points available Points per game
Top half today: Sundowns (1st), Sekhukhune (6th), Golden Arrows (8th) 3 W1 D2 L0 5 9 1.67
Bottom half today: Polokwane (11th), Kruger (13th), Richards Bay (14th), Siwelele (15th) 4 W2 D2 L0 8 12 2.00
All seven 7 W3 D4 L0 13 21 1.86
13 + 4 dropped against Polokwane and Richards Bay = 17, one point clear of AmaZulu in 3rd

Chiefs have held their own against the top half, including a draw with the leaders. The points that keep them fourth went at Richards Bay, 14th, and Polokwane City, 11th, two draws against sides that have won once between them all season. Turn those two draws into wins and Chiefs would be third on 17. That is a narrower problem than the table suggests: the side does not lose to anyone, it fails to finish off the bottom half.

What 13 October can and cannot change

All four of the top four play at the same time on Tuesday 13 October, 19:30 SAST: Richards Bay v Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates v TS Galaxy, Durban City v AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs v Stellenbosch. Milford and Sekhukhune United, 5th and 6th, do not play that night. Both the ESPN scoreboard and the SuperSport fixture list confirm all of that.

Club Points now Most points possible after 13 October Our published pick on 13 October
Mamelodi Sundowns 20 23 Sundowns to win at Richards Bay, 76%, strong
Orlando Pirates 19 22 Pirates to beat TS Galaxy, 71%, strong
AmaZulu 16 19 AmaZulu to win at Durban City, 56%, good
Kaizer Chiefs 13 16 Chiefs to beat Stellenbosch, 52%, close
Top four Four picks, one kick-off time

Two things follow from that table. First, Chiefs cannot finish the night above 4th: a win takes them to 16, which can at best draw them level on points with AmaZulu, and only if AmaZulu fail to win. Second, they cannot finish below 4th either, because the two clubs underneath them are not playing. The night is about the gap, not the position. A win cuts the deficit to the leaders to between 4 and 7 points, depending on the Sundowns result. A draw leaves it between 6 and 9.

Next fixtures and our picks

Kick-off times are South African time. They were checked against kaizerchiefs.com, the ESPN feed and the SuperSport list, which publishes the same moments two hours earlier because its clock is UTC.

Date Fixture Kick-off (SAST) Venue Our pick Status
Tue 13 Oct Kaizer Chiefs v Stellenbosch 19:30 FNB Stadium Kaizer Chiefs, 52%, close Confirmed by three sources
Sat 31 Oct Orlando Pirates v Kaizer Chiefs 15:30 Orlando Stadium Orlando Pirates, 58%, good Confirmed by three sources
Wed 4 Nov Kaizer Chiefs v AmaZulu Postponed, new date to be confirmed FNB Stadium Kaizer Chiefs, 44%, close Disputed, see below
The 4 November round is in doubtAs of 4 October 2026, ESPN lists every Betway Premiership match on 4 November as postponed and the SuperSport fixture list no longer carries that round, while kaizerchiefs.com still shows Chiefs v AmaZulu at 19:30. We have not found a league statement either way, so treat that date as unconfirmed. Chiefs also have a CAF Confederation Cup tie against Red Arrows of Zambia this month, and we will not publish dates or a pick for it until a kick-off time is confirmed by two sources.

Note the derby pick runs against Chiefs. We rate Orlando Pirates the more likely winner at Orlando Stadium, and we say so on the Chiefs page as plainly as on the Pirates one.

Our record, including the Chiefs pick we lost

Every prediction we publish is graded in public and stays on the log whether it won or lost. A draw counts as a loss when we backed a winner.

What we publish The figure Verified
Overall graded record 104 wins, 74 losses, 58% from 178 picks Live site, 4 Oct 2026
Picks at 70% and above 24 wins from 28, 86% Live site, 4 Oct 2026
Betway Premiership picks 6 wins, 7 losses, 46% from 13 Counted from our public pick log, 4 Oct 2026
Kaizer Chiefs v Siwelele, 6 Sep Chiefs to win, 63%: 3-2 WIN Our pick log
Richards Bay v Kaizer Chiefs, 26 Aug Chiefs to win, 57%: 2-2 LOSS Our pick log

Two graded Chiefs picks, one win and one loss, and the loss was a draw, which is exactly the pattern the table above describes. Our Betway Premiership column as a whole is the weakest part of our record at 6 from 13, and we publish that figure here rather than hide it behind the 86 percent strong band.
